Welcome House, Inc.’s target population is predominately located in Dallas County zip codes 75216, 75215, 75214, 75206, 75204 and 75201. Over eighty per cent (80%) of the clients served are from the southern Sector of Dallas, the neighborhood from whence they came and the remaining twenty percent (20%) come from all over the city of Dallas and various states outside of Texas i.e. California, Louisiana, Arkansas, Maryland and New York. The educational level of this population ranges from high school drop-out to college educated. Many targeted clients have been unable to lead sustaining lives and have seen their lives spiral downward due to the use of drugs and/or mental health issues. Data from the Texas Department of Health (TDH) indicate that the majority of the residents in the southern sector of Dallas County are African American and Hispanic.Welcome House, Inc. targets and provides services to the chronically under-served populations of minorities, men, women, adolescents and the emerging population of older adults, 50 years of age and older. WHI will continue to offer Counseling Services (Group & Individual Therapy) 12-step Recovery Groups, Educational Groups, Family Education, Stress Management, Social Skills, Assertiveness Training, Relapse Prevention and follow-up to individuals who are HIV positive in all stages of the disease process from the age of 13 and up that meet defined eligibility requirements regardless of race, religious belief, sexual orientation, or physical ability.
